We support the Black Lives Matter movement here at Sunny Truth Farm. Having worked with youth in disenfranchised neighborhoods in Durham for 15 years and hearing their stories, I am well aware of the institutional racism that exist. I love seeing the energy, focus, and action that the youth are using to push this needed discussion. The time for words is over though, it is time for systemic change. I am also aware that some people find the phrase Black Lives Matter offensive. I would ask that you are one of those people, please read the attached article and think about it. Hopefully you will be able to see why it is important that we say Black Lives Matter, because our system has been telling POC for a long, long, time that their lives don’t matter.
